RN - CVICU

Job Overview

Location: Asheville, North Carolina
Employment type: Travel
Contract length: 13 weeks
Weekly hours: 36
Shift: 12-hour shifts
Schedule: Alternating weekends

Unit Details

Unit: CICU
Beds: 16
Patient ratio: 2:1 or 1:1, occasionally 3:1 depending on acuity
Staffing: RNs only; no HUC or PCT
Floating: Travelers float to all areas
Scrub color: All navy or navy and white

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in North Carolina
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
CVICU (2 years of experience)
CVICU experience within the last year
ACLS
BLS
Titration of vesicant medications
Familiarity with pressors
Familiarity with sedation
Familiarity with paralytics
Experience with mechanical ventilators
Experience with tracheostomies
Telemetry interpretation
Understanding of hemodynamics
PA catheter setup and interpretation

Preferred / Helpful Experience

Titration of vesicant medications
Familiarity with pressors, sedation, and paralytics
Experience with vents, trachs, and telemetry interpretation
Understanding of hemodynamics and PA catheter setup and interpretation

Additional Skills and Unit Exposure

IABP, Impella, and CRRT are desirable
Procedures performed on the unit include cardioversion, central line insertion, EGD, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertions, pericardiocentesis, and thoracentesis

Notes

Cerner is used for documentation
CCRN is appreciated/recommended
No certifications are required beyond the listed requirements
