Job Overview

Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas
- Rehabilitation (1 year of experience)
- Rehabilitation experience within the last year
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Transfer training
Preferred Experience
- Rehab experience
- Rehab scoring documentation
Unit Details
- Inpatient rehab unit
- 15 beds
- Typical staffing includes 1 charge nurse, 2 RNs, and 1 CNA on both day and night shifts
- Patient ratio is 5:1, with a maximum of 6:1
Common Responsibilities
- Patient transfers
- Bladder scans
- Dressing changes
- Medication administration
Work Environment
- Uses transfer equipment such as hoyer lifts and sliding boards
- Floating may include Med-Surg, Telemetry, Renal, Urology, Orthopedic, and overflow units
- Excludes ICU
Scheduling
- Every other weekend and holidays
- On-call is seldom, unless overall hospital census is low
Unit Expectations
- Bedside report and handoff
- Hourly rounding
- Bed alarm activation
