Travel RN — PCU
Location
- Hermitage, Tennessee
Contract
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- Travel assignment
Schedule
- 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
- Every other weekend required
- Self-scheduling
- May float between PCU units or to med-surg floors
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience)
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
- BLS
- ACLS
- Critical thinking skills
- EKG rhythm interpretation
- Experience with cardiac drips
- Experience with insulin drips
- Experience with heparin drips
- Experience with BiPAP
- Experience with high flow O2 and multiple oxygen delivery systems
- Experience with stroke care
- Experience with post cardiac cath care
- Experience with tube feedings and NG/Dobhoff tubes
Preferred Experience
- Peritoneal dialysis experience
Clinical Setting
- Progressive care unit with 34 beds in one section and 25 beds in another
- Typical patient ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 on days, 1:5 to 1:6 on nights
Common Patient Care / Unit Experience
- Bipaps
- High-flow oxygen and multiple oxygen delivery systems
- Stroke care
- Post-cardiac cath care
- Tube feedings
- NG/Dobhoff tubes
- Thoracentesis
- Paracentesis
- Chest tube insertions
- Dobhoff/NG tube insertions
- Central line dressing changes
- Wound vac troubleshooting
Documentation
- Meditech
Additional Notes
- Black scrubs required
- Uses tech support on the unit
- Hourly rounding on days and every 2-hour rounding on nights
- Communication boards and AIDET are used
- Peritoneal dialysis is performed on the unit
