RN - Med Surg
Location
- Nashville, Tennessee
Assignment Details
- Travel assignment
- 13 weeks
- 36 hours per week
- 3 x 12-hour shifts per week
- 2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule
Unit Overview
- 34-bed trauma medical-surgical unit
- Patient ratio: 6:1
- Tech support available on day and night shifts
- Unit secretary available 7a–7p
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Tennessee
- Med Surg (2 years of experience)
- Med Surg experience within the last year
- BLS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Relevant Skills / Experience
- Medical-surgical experience
- Ability to prioritize care and multitask
- IV starts
- Basic wound care
- Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes
Work Environment
- Uses telemetry, IV pumps, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, and iMobile communication technology
- Contract labor floats first when needed
Patient Care Expectations
- Provide attentive and compassionate care
- Give bedside shift report
- Build personal connections with patients and include them and their families in the plan of care
Dress Code
- Navy scrubs, top and bottom
