Certified Surgical First Assistant

- Day shift, 4x10 hours
- Monday through Friday with a rotating day off
- Call is required
Assignment Length
- 13 weeks
Role Overview
- First Assist role
- Must be comfortable vein harvesting for CABG procedures
- Assists with on-pump and off-pump CABG, VATs, and valve replacements
Required Qualifications
- Valid CVOR First Assist license in Texas
- CVOR First Assist experience within the last year
- 1 year of CVOR First Assist experience
- Surgical First Assistant experience
- NBSTSA
- Drivers License or State ID
- Education verification required
- 7-year background check required
- 7-year work history verification required
- Complete application/resume required
- Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
Required Certifications
- ACLS
- BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross or RQI or American Safety and Health Institute
- PALS
- NRP, as applicable
- Chemotherapy certification, as applicable
- TNCC, as applicable
- NIH Stroke Certification, as applicable
- CPI, as applicable
- Management of Assaultive Behavior, as applicable
Required Health Documents
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit test within 1 year of start
- Tdap within 10 years of start
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start
- TB questionnaire, if needed for positive TB results
- Measles, mumps, and rubella immunity documentation
- Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination documentation
- Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
Other Compliance Items
- E-Verify required for direct candidates
- Attestation required for sub candidates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM required upon hire
- HHS/OIG required upon hire
- Color blind testing required
- Photo for badge required
- HIPAA acknowledgement required
- Fingerprinting required for New Mexico placements only
