RN - NICU
Job Overview
- Travel RN position in Salt Lake City, Utah
- 13-week assignment
- Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- 36 hours per week
- Rotating weekends: 4 weekend shifts per month
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Utah
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care (2 years of experience)
- NICU - Neonatal Intensive Care experience within the last year
- NRP
- BLS
- STABLE
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience working with Neonate patients
- Experience caring for premature and critically ill neonates, including infants requiring respiratory support
- Competency in management of patients receiving CPAP, high-flow nasal cannula, and mechanical ventilation
- Experience with umbilical lines (UAC/UVC), PICC lines, and central line management
- Experience administering and monitoring parenteral nutrition (TPN/lipids), IV medications, and neonatal drips
- Experience with Epic
Preferred Experience
- Level IV NICU or regional referral NICU experience
- Experience caring for micro-preemies and extremely low birth weight infants
- Experience with high-frequency ventilation and inhaled nitric oxide
- Experience assisting with and caring for infants after PICC insertion, chest tube placement, and neonatal procedures
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia protocols
- Experience caring for infants with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy
Unit Details
- Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with 32 beds
- Patient ratios range from 1:1 to 1:3 depending on acuity
- Floating may include the well-baby nursery
Common Responsibilities
- Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization
- CPAP, HFNC, and mechanical ventilation management
- Surfactant administration
- UVC/UAC line management
- PICC line management and maintenance
- Peripheral IV insertion and management
- Blood product administration
- TPN and lipid administration
- Phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia
- NG and OG tube placement and feeding
- Therapeutic hypothermia protocol management
- Neonatal medication and infusion management
- Neonatal sepsis evaluation and treatment
- Discharge planning and caregiver education
Work Environment
- Team-based care with neonatologists, NNPs, respiratory therapists, and multidisciplinary staff
- Fast-paced, high-acuity neonatal setting
- Hospital-laundered scrubs provided each shift
