RN PCU
Overview
- Travel RN role in San Antonio, Texas.
- Unit: Surgical PCU.
- 32-bed unit on the 5th floor of the North Tower.
- Schedule is 36 hours per week with rotating weekends.
- No on-call.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Texas.
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit (2 years of experience).
- PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year.
- BLS.
- ACLS.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience with tracheostomy care.
Preferred Qualifications
- PCU experience.
- Trach experience.
Unit Details
- Patient ratio: 1:4, sometimes 1:5.
- Floating may include Medsurg, Medsurg PCU, and ED holds.
- EMR: Meditech.
Clinical Focus
- Tracheostomy and laryngectomy care.
- Small bowel resection, lower anterior resection, ileostomy or colostomy placement and reversal, fistula repairs, hernia repairs, and Nissen fundoplications.
- Bronchoscopy, lobectomies, thorascopies, wedge resections, and chest tube placement.
- Mastectomies, modified radical neck dissections, and thyroidectomy.
- Routine care for JP drains, biliary drains, abdominal or chest tube drains, TPN, and tube feeds.
- Telemetry.
