CT Scan Technologist CWR

Role Overview

• Performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assisting with interventional and therapeutic procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Performs complex CT procedures.
• Uses professional judgment when reviewing and obtaining patient clinical history.
• Identifies and/or administers contrast media related to CT exams as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Reviews patient prescriptions and communicates with the Radiologist and Referring Physician when additional clinical information or a new prescription is needed.
• Calls physicians to clarify prescriptions in accordance with CT protocols.
• Verifies insurance-authorized exam scripts and sends exam modification forms for insurance re-verification.
• Obtains outside studies and schedules them so CDs and reports are available for comparison by Radiologists.
• Provides exam copies to the patient and requesting physician and/or family member.
• Evaluates radiographs using PACS to ensure proper identification and diagnostic value.
• Uses relevant information from the medical record, significant others, and health care providers to prepare protocols for scanning and patient safety.
• Determines whether the patient has been appropriately prepared for the procedure.
• Preps patients for scanning, including shielding and immobilization devices.
• Determines the appropriate type and dose of contrast to be administered.
• Provides explanations and instructions at an appropriate level for the patient.
• Addresses and documents patient questions and concerns regarding the procedure.
• Performs venipuncture, IV patency, and maintenance procedures according to established guidelines.
• Monitors the patient’s physical condition for adverse reactions during the procedure.
• Works scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
• Works overtime as needed.
• Takes on-call assignments as needed per Department of Radiology policy.
• Adheres to Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality policies.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 50 lbs., and stand a minimum of 6 hours a day.
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care accordingly.

Schedule

• Day shift: 10AM–8PM
• 20 hours per week
