Emergency Dept RN

Overview

Travel assignment in Salem, Virginia
13-week contract
36 hours per week
Unit: Cave Spring Freestanding Emergency Department
Emergency Department floor in the Cave Spring building
8 beds
23 RNs total
Patient ratio: 1:4

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
ED - Emergency Department (2 years of experience)
ED - Emergency Department experience within the last year
IV insertion skills
Experience with EKG skills
ACLS
BLS
PALS
CPI
TNCC

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in the Freestanding ED setting
Independent mixing of pharmacy drugs such as Tpa and KCentra

Unit Details

Equipment includes GE Monitors, Nursecall system, Small Ventilator, Baxter Pumps, and Zoll Defibs
EMR: Meditech
Typical procedures include IVs, EKGs, medication mixing, and scanning medications for every patient and every med

Schedule

Day shift staffing includes 2 7a-7p RNs, 1 9a-9p RN, and 1 11a-11p RN
Night shift staffing includes 2 7p-7a RNs
Weekends rotate, with 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Holidays required
