Registered Nurse: MED/Surg with ER

Overview

• Contract role in Hebron, Nebraska.
• Full-time, 36 hours/week.
• Nights: 5p-5a, 3 days/week, with weekend and holiday rotation.
• Indoor, smoke-free patient care environment with frequent contact with biohazardous materials and communicable diseases.

Unit / Setting

• MED/Surg and ER.
• Patient care responsibilities also include LDR and Nursery when assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Valid RN license in Nebraska
• Med Surg / Telemetry (2 years of experience)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS
• ACLS
• TNCC
• NRP
• STABLE

Experience / Competency

• Demonstrated competence in Emergency Room nursing care.
• Demonstrated competence in obstetrical care through labor, delivery, and post-partum.
• Demonstrated competence in newborn care.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care by observing and recording signs and symptoms, administering sterile treatments, assisting with examinations, and using special equipment.
• Prepare, administer, and document oral, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous medications using barcode scanning in the electronic health system.
• Assist in planning, providing, and evaluating patient care as part of the nursing team.
• Perform total patient care when assigned.
• Clean rooms and equipment after use or discharge and keep utility and service rooms in order.
• Observe, record, and report patient conditions and changes.
• Perform selected procedures and therapeutic treatments.
• Promote patient cooperation and teach patient self-care.
• Maintain accurate and complete records, including transcribing physician orders.
• Assist in training and orientation of new employees.
• Participate in quality assurance, committees, in-service programs, meetings, and educational workshops.

• Housing is limited; motel/hotel options may need to be researched.
• On-call rooms are limited and available upon request.
