CAT Scan Tech
Location: Nashua, New Hampshire Employment Type: Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Hours per Week: 36 Specialty: Diagnostic Imaging
Job Summary
Performs CT procedures at a technical level under the direction of the Radiologist and CT Supervisor, following department protocol. Works independently in a fast-paced environment and performs a variety of technical procedures, including interventional cases, CT Angiography, and advanced 3D reconstruction. Administers IV, oral, and rectal contrast.
Schedule
- Milford location: Monday, Thursday, and Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
- Main hospital campus: every Saturday, 10:30 AM to 9:00 PM
- Minimal holidays and back-up call required
- Flexible to assist with 24/7 department coverage, including on-call, holidays, and weekends
- Up to 3 shifts may be cancelled per 13-week contract
Key Responsibilities
- Acquires scans according to radiologist and department protocol, and applies the ALARA principle
- Informs patients of exams, provides instructions, and reviews IV contrast questionnaires
- Assists the radiologist during interventional procedures
- Coordinates daily workload by scheduling inpatients and prioritizing emergency department patients
- Reviews exams for completeness in PACS before submitting to the radiologist
- Completes documentation in the EMR
- Maintains equipment, supplies, and a clean, organized work area
- Completes mandatory learning, competencies, and CEUs as required
Required Qualifications
- Valid CT Technologist license in New Hampshire
- CT Technologist experience (3 years)
- CT Technologist experience within the last year
- ARRT (CT) certification
- BLS certification (BLS/BCLS listed)
Physical Demands
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
- Lifting or carrying up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Works under some stress related to high responsibility for quality care
