Registered Nurse - MS/Tele

Location: Rochester, New York Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), 48 hours per week

Unit and Assignment

• Unit: MS/Tele unit, assigned at time of offer
• Ratios: 1:5 to 1:7
• Floating: Required to float within skillset
• Scrub Color: Any combination of navy blue and white
• Facility: 528-bed acute care teaching facility, Magnet-recognized, and certified as an Advanced Thrombectomy Capable Stroke Center

Required Qualifications

• Valid, active New York Single State RN license (New York is not a Compact state; pending license not accepted)
• At least 1 year of Med Surg/Telemetry experience, with Med Surg/Telemetry experience within the last year
• BLS issued by the American Heart Association (AHA only; Provider, Instructor, and RQI accepted)
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Phlebotomy skills, including IV therapy and peripheral line care and management
• Non-invasive airway management, including nasal cannula and oxygen administration and tanks
• Experience with Epic (charting software familiarity)

Schedule and Policies

• Every other weekend required
• Must be available to work every other holiday, if needed
• Time-off-request and block scheduling requests must be submitted upon submission
• Up to three shifts may be called off during the 13-week contract period
• First-time travelers accepted
• RNs living within 75 miles of the facility are not accepted

Background and Compliance

• 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start, including SSN trace, national criminal, national sex offender, education verification, work eligibility in the United States, and international search if lived outside the US
• Convictions reviewed and approved by facility HR
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, rerun monthly
• New York Sex Offender Registry search within 30 days of start
• New York State Medicaid Exclusion List check within 30 days of start, rerun monthly
• Education verification from in-house or third-party source. If none is on file, transcript/diploma is required. International candidates need a foreign equivalency evaluation (full CGFNS report, WES, or EEE of America accepted; certificate alone not accepted)
• Government-issued photo ID required
• Two references within 3 years required for agency candidates (not required by facility)
• Verification of at least 2 past employments

Health Requirements

Candidates must complete health requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract.

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (PAPR worn onsite if the test is failed)
• Negative TB test (QuantiFERON-Gold, T-SPOT, or 2-step PPD) within 1 year of start. If positive, proof of positive result, a negative chest X-ray within 10 years of start, and an annual TB questionnaire are required
• Rubeola, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, and varicella: positive titer or required vaccinations (details per source)
• Drug screen within 30 days of start (amphetamines, cocaine, ecstasy, fentanyl, heroin, opiates), not required annually
• Flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season, deadline 12/3
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred, not required

• Professional passport-style badge photo with solid background
• Facility orientation safety manual acknowledgment
• Facility online modules before start
• Parking pass form completed during orientation
• Facility pre-employment compliance, health records, and new hire forms
• For mental health, behavioral health, home health aide, or LTC units only: NYS criminal background fingerprinting, DOH-102 form, and NYS disciplinary action search (handwritten forms with wet signature)
