Registered Nurse - MS/Tele
Location: Rochester, New York Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks Shift: Night, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00) Hours: 12 hours per day, 48 hours per week
Clinical Assignment
- Primary Unit: MS/Tele
- Float Scope: MS, ICU, ED. If floated to ICU or ED, the nurse cares for Med/Surg-level patients or serves as an extra pair of hands. Will not practice outside of scope.
- Patient Diagnoses: Cardiovascular, wounds
- Ratios: Day/Evening 5:1 (stretch 6-7). Night 6-7:1 (stretch 8-10 if staff calls in).
- Skills and Competencies:
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response team activation
- IV therapy/phlebotomy: peripheral line care and management
- Respiratory: nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tank, non-invasive airway management
- Isolation precautions
- Special Equipment: Hoyer lifts, wound vac
- Support Staff: PCTs on all units handle vital signs, blood glucose checks, EKGs, and activities of daily living.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Phlebotomy skills
- IV insertion skills
- Experience with Epic
