Location

• City: Lancaster, Ohio
• Facility: Fairfield Medical Center

Employment Type

• Type: Contract
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 36-40 hours per week
• Call Requirements: Typically 2-3 times a week; weekend call every 2nd or 3rd weekend

Job Summary

A Surgery Technician provides assistance in the operating room under the supervision of surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses. Responsibilities include caring for patients during surgical procedures, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care in collaboration with team members.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare the operating/procedure room and surgical equipment.
• Provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner.
• Assist surgeons during operations by passing tools and controlling equipment.
• Ensure patient safety and comfort during procedures.
• Participate in pre-operative planning and physician-led time-outs.
• Initiate emergency procedures as needed.
• Maintain patient privacy and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduate or equivalent; graduate of an accredited surgical technician program.
• Licensure & Certifications: CPR certification and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required.
• Experience: Previous operating room experience preferred.
• Skills:

  • Strong clinical skills in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements

• Capacity Demand: Heavy work; ability to exert 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently.

Additional Information

• All travelers must have a permanent address of 50 miles or more to qualify as a traveler.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS/BCLS.
