MRI Technologist - Diagnostic Imaging

Location: Janesville, Wisconsin
Facility: Mercyhealth Hospital and Trauma Center
Employment Type: Contract (12 months)

Job Description

• Perform MRI procedures and related techniques to produce diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Work 12-hour and 8-hour shifts totaling 40 hours per week.
• Weekend rotation: work every 3rd Saturday, with weekday and weekend call rotation.
• May be required to work flexible hours, alternate shifts, weekends, and call as necessary.
• Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary team, participate in committees and projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform MRI procedures under licensed medical practitioner orders.
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide instructions to minimize anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Apply magnetic resonance safety principles to protect patients, self, and others.
• Operate MRI systems, coils, gating devices, and related equipment.
• Position patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Immobilize patients as needed for examinations.
• Select appropriate pulse sequences based on protocols and data acquisition factors.
• Perform venipuncture, start and maintain venous access, and administer contrast media.
• Verify consent and screening forms.
• Assist physicians with interventional procedures.
• Practice aseptic technique and universal precautions.
• Evaluate image quality and manipulate digital data for display and proper identification.
• Provide for physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures.
• Use radiology information systems (including PACS) to complete records, archive, and submit images.
• Initiate basic life support when necessary.
• Provide practical instruction to partners and students.

Education & Experience

• Graduate of an accredited radiography program.
• Experience as an MRI Technologist.

Certification / Licensure

• ARRT Radiography registration required.
• ARRT MRI registration required.
• Approved CPR or BLS certification required.
