Surgical Technologist - Contract Position

Location: Tuba City, Arizona
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Facility Overview

• Located in Northwestern Arizona, serving a large 4,400 square mile area including Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute Reservations.
• 73-bed hospital providing comprehensive inpatient/outpatient emergency services.
• Surgical specialties include General Surgery, Orthopedic, Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Podiatry, Urology, for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Diverse medical staff including surgeons, general medical officers, pediatricians, family practice physicians, and various dental and nursing professionals.

Position Summary

• Rotational scheduling with on-call coverage required (night, weekend, holiday).
• Assist with positioning, surgical prepping, and draping of surgical patients.
• Set up operating room before surgery, ensuring all equipment and instruments are available and functional.
• Support surgeries across multiple specialties for adult and pediatric patients.

Requirements

• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician training program accredited by the Association of Surgical Technologists (AST), or
• On-the-job training in a clinical healthcare setting or military specialty.

Certification/Licensure:

• Must obtain certification within 6 months after 3 years of qualification from one of the following:

  • National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA 3yr)
  • Surgical Technologist Certification (CST)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT-3yr, 6240 hours)
  • Certified Tech in Surgery (TS-C)
• Must maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association throughout employment.

Additional Information

• Orientation sessions held every 2 weeks.
• COVID & Flu vaccination exemptions may be accepted after submission of a declination form.
• Housing application must be submitted 2 weeks prior to start date.
