Physical Therapist - Rehabilitation Therapy
Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Employment Type: Contract (13 weeks)
Job Description
The Physical Therapist provides physical therapy services to residents to maximize their functional abilities and independence in activities of daily living. Key responsibilities include:
- Performing evaluative and therapeutic procedures under physician or healthcare provider orders.
- Evaluating residents and establishing therapeutic plans of care with functional goals, frequency, duration, and modalities.
- Collaborating with residents, caregivers, physicians, and healthcare team members regarding care plans and discharge needs.
- Monitoring and modifying treatment plans based on resident progress.
- Documenting all interactions and treatments in the Electronic Medical Record, ensuring clarity and accessibility.
- Recommending and instructing on appropriate assistive devices.
- Providing education to residents and caregivers, documenting teaching outcomes.
- Referring residents to Physical Therapist Assistants and collaborating with therapy professionals.
- Complying with Medicare, Medicaid, and other reimbursement regulations in documentation.
- Providing in-service education and maintaining clinical skills through ongoing learning.
- Assisting in the development of new rehabilitation programs and services.
- Supervising assistant-level staff according to state and professional standards.
- Mentoring new staff during orientation and ensuring completion of competencies.
- Maintaining cleanliness and infection control in clinical and office areas.
- Maintaining required licenses, certifications, and completing annual compliance courses.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Doctorate preferred.
- Active Physical Therapist license in Massachusetts.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred.
- Equivalent education and experience combinations considered.
Skills and Abilities
- Strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
- Responsible, supportive team player with strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Analytical with sound decision-making ability.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
- Excellent time management and documentation skills.
- Compassionate, resident-centered care approach.
- Ability to understand and follow written instructions in English.
Physical Demands
- Ability to perform tasks involving sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and reaching.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; lifts above 50 pounds require two-person assistance.
- Frequent lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to handle stress related to responsibility for quality care.
