Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Obstetrics (Labor & Delivery)

Location: Lamar, Colorado
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide direct patient care to women in labor, through delivery, postpartum, and newborn care.
• Perform assessments and monitor labor progress.
• Prepare for C-sections and inductions.
• Administer care during labor, post-delivery, and postpartum, including infant care.
• Provide patient education.
• Prepare delivery room and provide emotional support.
• Coordinate patient transfers.
• Administer IV medications.
• Adhere to infection control principles and OB department policies.
• Knowledge or interest in obstetrics and related equipment is required.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care within RN scope of practice.
• Documentation of nursing care.
• Support labor and delivery processes.
• Maintain sterile technique and infection control.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Colorado.
• Current CPR certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Certification required.
• ACLS certification within one year of employment.
• Preferred: 4 years of experience in obstetrics care.
• Skills in labor, delivery, postpartum nursing care.
• Ability to perform under stress and communicate effectively.

Physical Demands & Working Environment

• Long periods of standing, walking, and heavy lifting.
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, and unpleasant sights/smells.
• Full-time, 36 hours per week.
• Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
• May rotate shifts and areas based on staffing and census.
• On-call required.

This position reports directly to the Birth Center Manager.
