Registered Nurse (Med/Surg and EICU) - Wisconsin, Mauston

Job Summary

Provide quality, professional nursing care to Med/Surg and EICU patients. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing, documenting, and evaluating patient care. Adapt to changes in daily assignments, patient status, and unit needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Use the nursing process throughout patient hospitalization to individualize care.
• Understand disease processes, treatments, labs, vital signs, and potential complications.
• Develop and document patient care plans based on assessments and diagnoses.
• Provide independent care with minimal supervision within unit policies and physician orders.
• Respond to life-threatening situations following nursing standards and protocols.
• Explain procedures and treatments to patients at an appropriate level.
• Perform or assist with procedures per departmental policies.
• Monitor and report significant changes in patient condition promptly.
• Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for order review, verification, and follow-through.
• Administer medications, including IV therapy, with high accuracy.
• Initiate patient/family education and discharge planning as needed.
• Collaborate and delegate tasks to other healthcare team members.
• Safely care for multiple patients and maintain a safe environment.
• Follow Universal Precautions, asepsis, and infection control procedures.
• Properly handle specimens.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of nursing education (Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred).
• Current Wisconsin Registered Nursing license.
• BLS certification required.
• ACLS certification required.
• PALS certification encouraged.
• Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
