Job Opportunity: Rehabilitation Therapy - Physical Therapist

Location: Bethel, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 35 weeks

Position Summary

• Provide full-time outpatient and inpatient physical therapy care.
• Treat patients of all ages and diagnoses within Alaska's physical therapy scope of practice.
• Incorporate evidence-based medicine into patient care plans.
• Demonstrate professional conduct, ethics, and respect for cultural diversity.
• Modify care plans based on age-specific and patient-specific needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Physical Therapy program required.
• No minimum clinical experience required; hospital-based experience is helpful.
• Must be licensed and in good standing as a Physical Therapist in Alaska, or have completed all necessary FSBPT paperwork to work as a Student Physical Therapist post-graduation while preparing for licensure exam.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret physical therapy literature and medical documentation.
• Strong communication skills with medical staff, peers, administrative personnel, and culturally diverse patients (including non-English speakers).
• Proficient with personal computers, MS Office, email, and internet research for medical literature.
• Competent in basic math and problem-solving skills relevant to patient care.

Work Environment

• Hospital-based: Standard physical therapy department with equipment such as hi-lo tables, whirlpools, therapeutic exercise equipment, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation modalities.
• Village-based: Typically limited equipment; therapists bring necessary supplies (e.g., theraband, exercise programs).

Additional Requirements

• Proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations required.

Certifications

• BLS required (ACLS, PALS, NRP not required).

Years of Experience Required: None specified beyond degree; no minimum clinical experience required.
Prior Travel Experience Required: No prior travel experience required.
