Description
Behavioral Health Clinician - Contract Position
Location: Sitka, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Provide chemical dependency and mental health clinical care and interventions to individuals and families. Deliver treatment services based on client needs and treatment plans, including crisis intervention and care coordination. Maintain clinical records in compliance with state, federal, and agency policies. Collaborate with community agencies and clinical teams to support patient treatment goals.
Requirements
Licensure & Education
- Must have Alaska LCSW license at time of application.
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related discipline from an accredited institution.
- Licensed as one of the following:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT)
- Alaska State Chemical Dependency Counselor I or MAC certificate preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Behavioral Health (defaulting to higher requirement based on clinical expectations).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and brief direct therapy for clients of all ages.
- Provide crisis intervention and support, including emergency room consultations.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with legal and agency standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and community resources to coordinate patient care.
- Facilitate patient care conferences and discharge planning.
- Provide client advocacy and skill development support.
- Participate in staff trainings and quality management initiatives.
Skills & Abilities
- Proficient in diagnostic evaluation methods, mental status exams, and use of DSM-IV.
- Ability to perform case management and crisis intervention.
- Strong clinical documentation and report writing skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Effective communication and collaboration with clients, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to adapt treatment plans based on client progress and changing needs.
Additional Information
- Flu vaccine required.
- Fingerprint cards required for background clearance under the Indian Child Protection Act (ICPA).
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible.
- Housing and travel expenses are not provided.
