Travel RN Opportunity - San Marcos, Texas

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) - Med/Surg Intermediate Care (IMC)
• Employment Type: Travel
• Location: San Marcos, Texas
• Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Schedule: Full-time, every other weekend required
• Call Requirement: No regular call; on-call only with low census, approximately once every 2 weeks

• Duration: 13 weeks

Job Summary

• Provides routine and complex nursing care independently in a clinical setting.
• Demonstrates awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care situations.
• Makes appropriate assignments and delegates tasks to other care providers.
• Uses nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments following protocols; monitors side effects and effectiveness.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.
• Assesses learning needs and educates patients, families, and caregivers.

Requirements

Education & Certifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
• Current RN license in Texas or compact state
• BLS certification (AHA only) required
• ACLS certification (AHA only) required

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in Med/Surg or related nursing specialty (preferred)

Orientation & Competency

• New experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within first 30 days
• Precepted by trained staff with competency validations including Med/Surg specific validation
• Newly licensed RNs may participate in residency or specific orientation programs
• Completion of annual competency verification required

• This position is a backfill for an IMC Med/Surg RN role.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
