Travel Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
Beds: 29
Ratios: 4:1
Assignment Details
Schedule: Self-scheduling (balanced staffing), 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Block Scheduling: Available for night shift
Floating: Travel RNs float first; floating rotated fairly
Documentation: Meditech
Unit Overview
This PCU cares for a high-acuity cardiac and medical/surgical population, including CV surgery patients transitioning from ICU. Nurses perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments and manage multiple PCU-level titratable drips.
Common Drips: Dopamine, Dobutamine, Nitro, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Milrinone, Cardene, Labetalol, Insulin, Precedex

Alaris IV pumps
Pyxis
Hill-Rom beds
iMobile devices & MobiLab specimen collection
Required Experience & Skills
Cardiac/telemetry experience required
PCU and/or critical care experience preferred
Strong EKG interpretation skills
Experience with IVs, chest tubes, DHT/NG tubes, trachs, CVCs, Foley care, and early mobility
Patient Population Includes
Sepsis, MI, CHF, arrhythmias, post-cardiac cath, AKI/CKD, DKA, respiratory failure, GI bleed, POD 1 CABG and valve surgeries, thoracic and neuro surgery patients.
