$Must have a valid TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standings. Must Have: Active RN license, ACLS, BLS, ICU experience Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills Unit Specifics: Number of Beds: 31 Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1; may be 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity/staffing Staffing: Unit secretary during dayshift; occasional nurse extern working as tech Equipment: Ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, EV 1000 Documentation System: Meditech Scheduling Requirements: Minimum 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule; self-scheduling to an extent; manager may adjust shifts to balance coverage Floating Policy: Contract staff float first; may float to med/surg if staffing needs arise Patient Experience Requirements: Provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and families Advanced Skills / Procedures Performed Insertion of central lines, arterial lines, lumbar punctures, chest tube insertions, EVD insertions Critical care procedures including ventilator management, CRRT/SLED management, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring High-acuity patient care with complex medical needs Certifications Required: ACLS BLS/wk

Description

Registered Nurse – CVICU
Unit Name: CVICU

Requirements:
Must have a active TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing
Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience

Must Have: Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience

Advanced Skills Needed: PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required; preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT

Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS

Procedures Performed on Unit:
Immediate post-operative cardiac surgery care, including ECMO, Centrimag, and HM3 LVADs
Central line insertion
Swan insertion
Intubations
Care of advanced cardiac devices

Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds: 16
Patient Ratios: 1:2; 1:1 for device-dependent patients

Unit Staffing:
Free-floating charge nurse
Unit secretary & Administrative Care Tech (Mon–Fri, 0730–1530)
Student Nurse Externs assisting with tech duties

Equipment: Philips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, Alaris IV pumps

Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements:
2 weekends per month
1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)
2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Floating Policy:
Contract labor floats as needed, typically to other ICUs but may include other floors

Dress Code (Required):
Scrubs in black, red, or galaxy blue
Scrub jackets/vests only
