Registered Nurse – CVICU
Unit Name: CVICU

Requirements:
Must have a active TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing
Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience

Must Have: Strong critical care experience, including CVICU experience

Advanced Skills Needed: PA catheter and hemodynamic monitoring required; preferred experience with IABP, Impella, and CRRT

Certifications Required: ACLS, BLS

Procedures Performed on Unit:
Immediate post-operative cardiac surgery care, including ECMO, Centrimag, and HM3 LVADs
Central line insertion
Swan insertion
Intubations
Care of advanced cardiac devices

Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds: 16
Patient Ratios: 1:2; 1:1 for device-dependent patients

Unit Staffing:
Free-floating charge nurse
Unit secretary & Administrative Care Tech (Mon–Fri, 0730–1530)
Student Nurse Externs assisting with tech duties

Equipment: Philips bedside telemetry monitors, Hill-Rom beds, Alaris IV pumps

Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements:
2 weekends per month
1 summer holiday (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day)
2 winter holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Floating Policy:
Contract labor floats as needed, typically to other ICUs but may include other floors

Dress Code (Required):
Scrubs in black, red, or galaxy blue
Scrub jackets/vests only
