$Must have a valid TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standings. The Medical/Surgical Unit is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join the team in providing high-quality, patient-centered care. Qualified candidates must have an active RN license and BLS certification, along with previous med/surg experience. Nurses on this unit must be able to prioritize care, multitask effectively, and demonstrate strong clinical skills, including IV starts, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes. This 20-bed unit maintains a 6:1 patient ratio and provides support from techs on both day and night shifts, with a unit secretary on-site from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Equipment commonly used includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximetry machines, feeding pumps, PCAs, EKG machines, bladder scanners, and iMobile communication technology. Documentation is completed in Meditech. Scheduling consists of three 12-hour shifts per week with a requirement of two weekends (four shifts) per four-week schedule. Contract labor floats first, following rotation when multiple contract staff are scheduled. Nurses are expected to deliver attentive and compassionate care to patients and families, provide thorough bedside shift reports, and engage patients and their loved ones in the care plan.
