Registered Nurse – ICU
Unit: NVICU

Position Requirements:
Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
Must have a valid RN license (Compact or TN) with no restrictions

Certifications Required:
ACLS
BLS

Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds: 16
Patient Ratios: Typically 2:1; may be 1:1 or 3:1 depending on acuity and staffing

Unit Staffing:
Unit secretary on day shift
Occasional nurse extern functioning as a tech

Equipment Used: Ventilators, EVDs, CRRT, SLED, EV1000

Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling:
Minimum 4 weekend shifts per schedule
Schedules created in 4-week increments
Partial self-scheduling; management may adjust for balance

Floating Policy:
Contract staff float first
May float to med/surg and are expected to take an assignment

Patient Experience Expectations:
Provide attentive, compassionate care to patients and families

Advanced Skills Needed:
Procedures performed on unit include:
Central line insertion
Arterial line insertion
Lumbar punctures
Chest tube insertions
EVD insertions

Dress Code:
Navy scrubs — top and bottoms
