Requirements License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Experience: 1+ year of Med/Surg or stepdown experience preferred Documentation System: Meditech Equipment Used: PD Cyclers, Alaris IV Pumps, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lifts, Broda Chairs Floating Policy: Contract labor floats before core staff Scheduling: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule Unit Culture & Environment Supportive and collaborative team culture with engaged leadership Staffed with experienced charge nurses and youthful, motivated team members All staff are treated as core team members and held to equal standards of accountability and recognition Clinical Expectations Perform basic patient assessments and general care for patients with: Wounds Tracheostomies Ostomies Drains and chest tubes Strokes and seizures Care for patients requiring dialysis or PCA pumps (Heparin is the only drip administered) Maintain strict adherence to: HAI prevention protocols (CVC & Foley monitoring) Fall prevention and medication scanning (100%) Attendance and safety policies Procedures Performed Amputations Ostomy creation and care Drain management Chest tube management Oral surgeries Wound VAC management Patient Experience Focus Conduct bedside shift reports and safety checks every 1–2 hours Prioritize strong communication, responsiveness, and compassionate care/wk

Registered Nurse – Med Surg
Unit Name: 6th, Post-Op Med/Surg

Requirements:
Must have a valid TN RN License or Compact RN License in good standing
Minimum 2 years of Med Surg experience
Must Have: BLS certification

Hospital Certifications: Comprehensive Stroke, ACS Verified Level II Trauma Center, Certified Chest Pain Center

Requested Skill Set:
Med/Surg experience
Ability to prioritize care and multitask
IV insertion
Basic wound care
Maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes

Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds: 34
Patient Ratios: 6:1

Unit Staffing: Tech support on day and night shifts; unit secretary available 7a–7p

Equipment: IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse ox machines, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, bladder scanner, iMobile communication technology

Documentation System: Meditech

Scheduling Requirements:
Three 12-hour shifts per week
2 weekends (4 shifts) per 4-week schedule

Floating Policy:
Contract labor is first to float
Rotation used when multiple contract staff are scheduled

Patient Experience Expectations:
Provide attentive, compassionate care to patients and their families
Participate in bedside shift report
Build personal connections and include patients/families in the plan of care

Dress Code (Required):
Navy scrubs, tops and bottoms
