Summary
Under minimal supervision, the Pre-Admission Testing RN is responsible for obtaining appropriate required, ordered tests on selected patient populations in a safe manner. Monitors and evaluates patients through the testing process and must be able to communicate abnormal results to physicians and other appropriate parties. Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and good basic computer skills. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
General Functions:
Demonstrates commitment to the patients
Recognizes individual responses to required tests
Discusses medication requirements with patient/s
Ensures patient understands what tests are for and the process to obtain tests
Recognizes abnormal tests results and any contraindications to tests or labs ordered. Notifies appropriate Physician with required patient results/concerns.
Recognizes interdependency of tests ordered
Recognizes physiological conditions that may effect test results
Documents all necessary information
Coordinates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members when needed
Facilitates testing, instruction, pre and post educational teaching and processes for patients/families
Serves as a role model for service excellence and commits to Studer Principles and “must haves”
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
Maintains safe environment
Addresses patient population-specific needs
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
