Full Time Days

Summary
Assesses and evaluates the physical and psychological wellbeing of the cardiac rehab patient, monitors the exercise plan and helps the patient to achieve progress towards mutual goals of risk factor identification and modification to long term plan and assessment during rehabilitation. Participates in data collection for patient outcomes and implements and ensures patient satisfaction, exhibits exercise leadership skills and teaches patients/families/significant others to expand knowledge of recovery and wellness. Completes established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period. Other related assigned duties.

General Functions:
 Demonstrates commitment to the patients
 Recognizes individual responses to required tests 
 Discusses medication requirements with patient/s
 Ensures patient understands what tests are for and the process to obtain tests
 Recognizes abnormal tests results and any contraindications to tests or labs ordered. Notifies appropriate Physician with required patient results/concerns.
 Recognizes interdependency of tests ordered 
 Recognizes physiological conditions that may effect test results
 Documents all necessary information 
 Coordinates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team members when needed
 Facilitates testing, instruction, pre and post educational teaching and processes for patients/families
 Serves as a role model for service excellence and commits to Studer Principles and “must haves” 
 Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
 Maintains safe environment
 Addresses patient population-specific needs
 Participates in Performance Improvement activities
 

Education:

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited school of nursing
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree 

Experience:

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 years clinical nursing

MINIMUM PREFERRED: 2 years out-patient cardiac rehab, telemetry, cath lab. Med/Surg, or ICU

Certifications:

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life 
Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
