FULL-TIME NIGHTS
$15,000 Sign on bonus
The Respiratory Therapist Lead coordinates assignments of Respiratory Care Staff. Provides supervision of staff in the absence of Coordinator/Director. Provides respiratory care to patients. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.
General Functions:
- Assists with directing/supervising all aspects of respiratory care to include diagnostic test of the cardio-pulmonary system according to policy and procedures under the direction of the Medical Director, Department Director/Coordinator
Department/Business Unit Functions:
- Participates in peer interviewing
- Supervises, to include discipline, supports and coaches staff in absence of Coordinator/Director
- Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns
- Assists with development of staff throughout the department
- Facilitates consensus among divergent groups
- Minimizes staff turnover
- Provides input regarding performance for evaluations
- Supports competency plans
- Responds to emergency situations
- Maintains competencies to ensure compliance with all regulatory statutes
- Administers medication and treatments in accordance with policies
- Makes rounds to adequately maintain patient’s equipment, therapeutic listings
- Reports identified unusual patient conditions/reaction to immediate supervisor
- Prepares electronic documentation of all work/service rendered and provides written/verbal report to oncoming staff
- Performs quality control on all Respiratory Care equipment
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited AMA Respiratory Care program
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year of respiratory care clinical experience.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Supervisory experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Possession of current RCP State of Texas License, Possession of current CRT / RRT Certification from NBRC Renewal required every 5 years unless grandfathered prior to July 1, 2002)
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR):
- BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network
- ACLS-required for Adult EMERGENT Airway Team within 6 months of hire or transfer to position
- NRP-required for Neonatal within 6 months of hire date or transfer into position
- PALS- required for PICU within 6 months of hire date or transfer into position
