Description
FULL-TIME DAYS
The Vascular Technologist performs duplex scanning of carotid arteries, upper and lower extremity veins, upper and lower extremity arteries, abdominal aorta, aortic, hepatic and portal flow systems, PW or CW insonation of cerebral arteries transcranially, and peripheral arteries.
General Functions:
- Assumes responsibility for the care and proper functioning of all lab equipment.
- Provides on-call diagnostic services
- Performs diagnostic procedures
- Schedules testing in order to accommodate all patients
- Provides tests and procedures according to department policy and as directed by the medical and technical director
- Establishes and maintains a good line of communication with all physicians, staff, and other
- departments.
- Assumes responsibility for finding indications for testing done in the vascular lab
- Helps with training and performance review of students in the vascular lab
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School Diploma and at least 2 years (24 credit hours) of career oriented college credits in related discipline. Each year of experience may replace 12 credit hours of college.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Graduate of an AMA accredited school of Vascular Technology
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 year in vascular studies. Knowledge of Doppler for arterial and venous circulation evaluation

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Must be Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT), Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS), or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
REQUIRED COURSES/COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
