Description
The Radiology Manager is responsible for supervision of the Imaging department. Assesses, coordinates, implements, evaluates and discipline the employees according to the general personnel policies of BHS. The manager will identify study and assist in problem resolutions, relating to the department. Manages assign staff within the department. Completes established competencies for the position within introductory time frame. Performs other duties as assigned. Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period. Performs other related duties as assigned.
General Management:
Assists in establishing goals and objectives that support overall strategic plans of the facility/Baptist Health System
Recommends and monitors the annual department operating and capital budgets
Manages daily operations of assigned department/s
Manages performance of staff
Demonstrates objectivity in decision making, utilizing facts to support decisions
Supports the mission statement, policies and procedures of the Baptist Health System
Manages to eliminate boundaries to achieve integrated, efficient and quality service
Achieves ongoing compliance with all regulatory agencies
Serves as a resource to employees and customers as demonstrated by visibility and knowledge of issues
Demonstrates flexibility in response to change
Anticipates and responds to problems and risks
Communicates effectively with all levels in the organization and with inter/external customers
People Management:
Selects or assists in selection of personnel for hire and promotion; takes appropriate actions regarding counseling, disciplinary actions, demotion and termination
Manages, supports and coaches direct reports
Responds proactively to employee needs and concerns
Recognizes “experts” and “expertise” throughout the department and seeks employee input
Facilitates consensus among divergent groups
Minimizes staff turnover
Recognizes employees’ strengths and accomplishments
Evaluates or assists in evaluating assigned staff performance and competency, providing direct feedback
Assists in development of competency plans and provides opportunities for learning
Department/Business Unit Management:
Assists in the development and interpretation of department policies and procedures
Provides professional and technical guidance and confers with medical staff as appropriate
Maintains documentation and prepares reports of departmental activities
Assures availability and functioning of supplies and equipment
Implements protective measures to prevent patient injury due to thermal, electrical, mechanical, laser, chemical and radiation sources
Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
Maintains safe environment
Addresses patient population-specific needs
Participates in Performance Improvement activities
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited/approved Radiology or Nuclear Medicine Program and AASfrom accredited school or university.
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 7 years technical experience, 5 years at a supervisory level
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 2 years as a Senior Tech or 1 year as a coordinator in Imaging.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current Texas Medical Board (TMB) license. Registered by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist (ARRT) or equivalent, depending on specialty.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Multi-modality licensure in radiological specialties.
REQUIRED COURSES/ COMPLETIONS (e.g., CPR): Must have active healthcare provider Basic Life Support on hire (ARC or AHA); however, must have AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire.
