Position Summary
The Surgical Technologist plays a critical role in the operating room by assisting surgeons and the perioperative team before, during, and after surgical procedures. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of sterile technique, and the ability to function efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare operating rooms by setting up sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies
Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field
Anticipate surgeon needs throughout the procedure
Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and sharps
Assist with patient positioning and preparation
Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to infection control standards
Clean and restock operating rooms following procedures
Document procedures and supplies used as required
Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia staff
Ensure compliance with facility policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred
Current BLS certification
Minimum of 2 year of surgical tech experience preferred (ASC or hospital)
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, procedures, and sterile technique
Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Preferred Experience
Experience in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC)
Familiarity with multiple surgical specialties
Experience with electronic documentation systems
