Position Overview
NorTek Medical Staffing is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a full-time opportunity in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) in Newton, Kansas. This role focuses on providing structured, therapeutic nursing care to individuals receiving residential psychiatric treatment.
This position is ideal for nurses who are passionate about behavioral health, value team-based care, and are committed to creating a safe, supportive environment that promotes stability and long-term recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Nursing Practice
Deliver nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
Administer and monitor medications while educating residents on proper use and potential side effects
Monitor patient conditions and respond promptly to changes or urgent situations
Support a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment
Care Coordination & Communication
Communicate with prescribers regarding medication orders, refills, and clinical updates
Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary treatment teams, including therapists and psychiatrists
Support admissions, transfers, and continuity of care planning
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
Uphold patient confidentiality and professional nursing standards
Follow facility policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices in behavioral health care
Required Qualifications
Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kansas
Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills
Ability to remain calm and professional in a behavioral health setting
Preferred Experience
Experience in psychiatric, behavioral health, or residential treatment settings
Experience with medication management in mental health populations
Familiarity with crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques
BSN preferred but not required
Work Schedule
Day shift, 12-hour rotations
Full-time and part-time opportunities available
On-site role in Newton, KS
No relocation assistance provided
Non-local candidates not eligible
Compensation & Benefits
Salary Range: $70,000 – $83,000 annually (based on experience)
Shift differentials available
