Description
Job Title: X-Ray Technician
Location: New York, NY 10029
Job Duration: 8 Weeks
Shift: 5 × 7.5-Hour Day Shifts
Schedule: 9:30 AM – 5:30 PM
Hours per Week: 37.5 Hours
Guaranteed Hours: Dependent on facility requirements
Job Summary
The X-Ray Technologist operates or oversees the operation of radiologic imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images of the body. The technologist is responsible for preparing patients for radiological procedures and adhering to all safety and regulatory standards to ensure patient and staff safety.
Requirements
- New York State Department of Health Licensed Radiologic Technologist (L.R.T).
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (required).
- Competency in performing diagnostic procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Dependability, quality focus, planning, and patient-centered care skills.
Education & Licensing
- Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiologic Technology.
- Minimum Licensing Requirements:
- New York State License (L.R.T)
- ARRT Certification
Duties & Responsibilities
- Identify patient service requirements and establish rapport with patients to gain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures by positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, and setting appropriate exposure factors.
- Operate radiologic imaging equipment to obtain high-quality diagnostic images.
- Minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff using proper radiation protection techniques, shielding, and beam-restrictive devices.
- Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures.
- Maintain production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and making necessary adjustments.
- Document patient care services, including completion and verification of exams, in patient and department records.
- Ensure proper operation of radiology equipment, including preventive maintenance, troubleshooting malfunctions, and coordinating repairs.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory and anticipate supply needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by meeting regulatory CME requirements and attending educational programs.
- Complete yearly Age-Specific Competency requirements.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
