Description
Interventional Radiology Technologist: Responsible for assisting physicians and advanced practice providers with minimally invasive, image-guided procedures in routine and emergency cases. Interventional technologists operate specialized imaging equipment, prepare patients, and maintain a sterile environment during procedures like injections, angiography, biopsies, tube placements, and thrombolysis.
Preferred: 1–2 years of experience
Required: R.T.(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) OR One of the following advanced credentials: R.T.(VI) or R.T.(CV) or R.T.(CI) or RCIS
Responsibilities
Assists with minimally invasive interventional radiography procedures; Maintains a sterile environment throughout procedure.
Completes review of patients’ chart to verify exam orders and validate reason for exam; Reviews patient eligibility based on medications (such as blood thinners) and NPO status.
Interview patients regarding personal history, implanted devices, contrast allergies, etc.
Explains procedures to patients and maintains a safe and comfortable environment; Provides necessary pre- and post- procedure patient care; Performs patient education and delivers discharge instructions.
Adjust, maintain, and operate imaging equipment by following applicable use guidelines to acquire high-quality, diagnostic images.
Monitor vital signs, when applicable.
Manage supplies and equipment for procedures; Retrieve medications requested by performing provider; Ensure necessary resources are available throughout the case.
Administer contrast under radiologists’ supervision, when applicable.
Monitor patients for adverse reactions and ensure safety throughout the procedure.
Implement radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff, by adhering to ALARA guidelines.
Maintain accurate records within clinical documentation support systems; Manages imaging data in PACS and documents procedures in EMR; Ensures proper storage and retrieval of images for physician review.
Follows best practice safety guidelines as established by governing regulatory bodies.
Work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals.
Responds in emergency situations, including providing Basic Life Support.

CloudinfraIT Inc Job ID #294734. Pay package is based on 8 hour shifts and 40 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
