Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Inpatient Care Coordinator to manage patient care progression, ensure appropriate utilization of services, and support timely and effective discharge planning. This role requires strong clinical expertise, case management experience, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities:
Review patient records and monitor progress throughout hospitalization
Evaluate medical necessity, level of care, and length of stay
Coordinate patient care plans to ensure timely and appropriate discharge
Collaborate with physicians, care teams, and leadership to ensure quality and cost-effective care
Perform utilization review (UM), case management (CM), and discharge planning (DCP) functions
Validate physician orders and monitor for compliance with clinical guidelines
Communicate with payers and regulatory agencies as required
Handle appeals, denials, and documentation for reimbursement processes
Educate patients and families regarding healthcare plans and benefits
Maintain accurate documentation and logs related to utilization review
Support quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits
Required Qualifications:
Active Registered Nurse (RN) License – Alaska (required at time of submission)
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Minimum 8 years of clinical nursing experience
At least 3 years of experience in chart review, utilization review, risk management, or quality services
Strong knowledge of medical necessity review and care coordination
Preferred Qualifications:
Case Management Certification (e.g., CCM, NCQA)
