Job Summary

Hilo Medical Center is seeking an experienced Cardiac Progressive Care Unit Registered Nurse (CPCU RN) for a 13-week travel assignment. This position provides care for patients in a 15-bed Progressive Care Unit consisting of telemetry and step-down ICU patients. The ideal candidate will have strong telemetry skills, acute care experience, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

12 Telemetry Beds
3 Step-Down ICU Beds
Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:
Progressive Care: 1:4
Step-Down ICU: 1:3
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive nursing care using the nursing process
Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry rhythms
Perform telemetry strip interpretation
Administer medications and treatments as ordered
Monitor and document patient progress and responses to treatment
Perform fingerstick blood glucose monitoring
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
Maintain accurate patient documentation and ensure continuity of care
Required Qualifications
Active Hawaii RN License by Assignment Start Date
Minimum 2 Years of RN Experience
Recent Acute Care Hospital Experience
Current BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Progressive Care Unit (PCU/CPCU) Experience
Telemetry Experience
ACLS Certification
PALS Certification
NIHSS Certification
Equipment & Technology
EPIC EMR
Pyxis Medication System
Continuous Cardiac Monitoring
BiPAP
Assignment Details
13-Week Travel Contract

Scheduled 36 Hours Per Week Following Orientation
No Call Required
Holiday Coverage Required
Floating to Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, ICU, and Emergency Department as needed
Important Information
Candidates not currently holding an active Hawaii RN License must apply immediately upon acceptance.
Hawaii RN License must be active before the start date.
Travelers must arrive in Hawaii by the Thursday before the assignment start date to attend Employee Health appointments on Friday.
