Description

🏥 Travel Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Nights

📍 Location: Carbondale, Illinois
📅 Contract: 13 Weeks
🌙 Shift: Nights | 3 × 12-Hour Shifts/Week
⏱️ Hours: 36 Hours/Week

We're seeking an experienced Med-Surg Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment on a 25-bed medical-surgical unit. The RN will care for a diverse adult patient population, including stroke, post-operative, wound care, cardiac, respiratory, and complex medical patients.

✅ Requirements
Active Illinois RN License
Minimum 3 years of Med-Surg RN experience
Current BLS/CPR Certification
Current ACLS Certification
Current NIHSS Certification required
Stroke nursing experience preferred
Stroke certification preferred
Ability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week
Strong assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills

🩺 Clinical Experience
Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Med-Surg patients
Care for patients with stroke, altered mental status, AKI, COPD exacerbations, and other complex medical conditions
Provide care for post-operative patients, including those with amputations, drains, chest tubes, and feeding tubes
Manage patients requiring heparin infusions, wound care, CIWA monitoring, and dialysis-related care
Provide comfort-focused and hospice care as appropriate
Perform comprehensive assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition
Administer medications, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments
Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond appropriately to clinical changes
Develop and evaluate individualized patient care plans
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Provide patient and family education
Maintain accurate clinical documentation and follow patient safety standards

Three 12-hour night shifts
Every other weekend required
Every other holiday required
Typical night-shift nurse-to-patient ratio of 5–6:1
25-bed Med-Surg unit
Pager/on-call coverage may be required
