Job Summary (List Format): Occupational Therapist – School-Based, Part-Time (Dallas/Houston)

1. Evaluation & Assessment
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and re-evaluations for students referred via special education process.
- Assess fine motor, visual motor, sensory processing, self-help, adaptive, and functional skills impacting educational performance.
- Review educational records, classroom performance, medical info, and developmental histories.
- Prepare comprehensive evaluation reports and recommendations.
- Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations for special education eligibility.

2. IEP & Special Education Services
- Attend ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) and special education team meetings.
- Develop measurable OT goals and objectives for students.
- Contribute to IEP development and implementation.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, TEA, and district requirements.

3. Therapy & Intervention
- Provide direct/indirect OT services in individual, group, and classroom settings.
- Develop and implement interventions for fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, handwriting, sensory processing, self-care, classroom participation, mobility, and adaptive equipment.
- Use evidence-based practices to improve educational access and participation.
- Maintain accurate service logs, treatment notes, and progress documentation.

4. Consultation & Collaboration
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, SLPs, psychologists, social workers, and administrators.
- Recommend classroom accommodations, adaptive equipment, environmental modifications, and sensory supports.
- Train school staff and families on OT strategies and student needs.
- Support intervention implementation across educational environments.

5. Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
- Current Texas OT license in good standing; NBCOT registration preferred.
- School-based OT experience and experience working with children/adolescents preferred.
- Knowledge of special education evaluations, ARD meetings, and IEP processes preferred.
- Experience with diverse disabilities (autism, developmental delays, orthopedic, sensory needs, etc.) preferred.

6. Required Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of OT principles, assessments, and interventions.
- Understanding of IDEA, Section 504, and educational service models.
- Ability to evaluate and develop individualized plans.
- Strong written, verbal, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Capable of managing multiple cases and compliance deadlines.
- Commitment to educational equity and student-centered practices.

7. Physical & Logistical Requirements
- Ability to provide services in various school settings.
- Ability to lift, position, transfer, and assist students as needed.
- Use of adaptive equipment and therapy materials.
- Willingness to travel between campuses in assigned regions.
- Some work-from-home flexibility.
