Key Responsibilites: Provide direct and consultative instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing

• Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse communication and learning needs
• Utilize communication methods such as American Sign Language (ASL), total communication, or auditory-verbal approaches
• Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, audiologists, and families
• Conduct assessments, track student progress, and maintain accurate documentation
• Support use of assistive technology and hearing devices in the classroom
• Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
• Active North Carolina Professional Educator’s License
• DHH (Deaf & Hard of Hearing) endorsement through NCDPI
• Prior school-based or pediatric experience working with hearing-impaired students
• Knowledge of IEP development, compliance, and special education best practices
