Description

American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter, School Based

Employment Options: Full-Time 
Location: Clark County
Schedule: Monday–Friday | School Hours (Typically 7 hour days)
School Year / Contract: 2026-2027
Employment Type: W2 (Benefits Eligible Based on Hours)
Start Date: August
Pay Rate:  $35-$43.00/hour

Assignment Experience (What You Can Expect)

  • Provide sign language interpretation services for students in educational settings
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, assemblies, and school-related activities
  • Collaborate with teachers, special education teams, and support staff
  • Opportunities to work with students across PreK–12 grade levels
  • Support student access to academics, extracurricular activities, and school events
  • Build meaningful relationships while promoting student independence and inclusion

Your Impact as an ASL Interpreter

As an ASL Interpreter, you'll play a vital role in ensuring students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing have equal access to education. Your work helps students fully participate in classroom learning, communication, and school life while fostering an inclusive educational environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate and impartial American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, staff, and peers
  • Interpret educational materials, discussions, meetings, and special events
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional ethics in accordance with interpreter standards
  • Collaborate with educational teams to support student success
  • Promote communication access while encouraging student independence

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Valid state interpreter certification or licensure, where required
  • National interpreter certification preferred when applicable (RID, NIC, EIPA, or state-approved credentials)
  • Previous school-based interpreting experience preferred, but qualified interpreters from other settings are encouraged to apply
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students in educational settings
