School Psychologist – East Orange, NJ

Qualifications
- Master's or doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field required
- Valid New Jersey School Psychologist certification/licensure, as applicable
- School-based experience preferred but not required
- Strong assessment, evaluation, and report-writing skills
- Knowledge of child development, behavior management, and counseling techniques
- Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, teachers, and school staff
- Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and student support services
- Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting the well-being and success of students
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychological and educational assessments to evaluate students' cognitive, academic, social, emotional, and behavioral functioning
- Interpret assessment results and provide recommendations for individualized education programs (IEPs), interventions, and student support services
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and other school professionals to develop and implement strategies that address students' individual needs
- Provide individual and/or group counseling and other mental health support services, as appropriate
- Assist with the development and implementation of behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and crisis intervention strategies
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to evaluate students for special education eligibility and contribute to IEP development
- Support students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or academic challenges
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive school climate through social-emotional learning and other student-focused initiatives
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and applicable regulations
