Description

Work Environment

  • Material Handling: Occasionally applies various PT/OT Modalities. Occasionally lifting from floor to waist 21-50lbs; lifting 11-20lbs. from waist to shoulder; lifting 0-10 lbs. overhead. Occasionally carrying, pushing, and pulling 21-50 lbs.
  • Positional Tolerance: The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions. Constant standing, and occasional sitting and walking. Frequently reaching forward, occasional forward bending, stooping, squatting crouching, and rarely kneels, crawls, climbs stairs or ladders.
  • This position occasionally performs fine motor skills, rarely reaches above shoulder height, twists at the hips, requires balance, grasps heavy items and performs a pinching activity.
  • Constantly requires hearing and frequently requires talking.  Frequently requires far acuity;
  • ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:All work is performed indoors a department which consists of several clinical rooms and offices or an inpatient hospital room.  Frequently requires working in close quarters with other employees and patients.  Environment is air conditioned as well as heated.  Work may be performed in patient rooms throughout the hospitals or nursing facility, at an offsite location, or in the patient’s home.
  • PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: As needed, gloves, mask, gown, and other personal protective equipment, as per blood and body fluid and isolation precautions. Off-site locations may require safety goggles, ear plugs, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, or other personal protective equipment required by the off-site location.

Education/Experience

Minimum Required:

  • Graduate of an approved Physical Therapist Assistant program or equivalent with Associate’s of Applied Science in Physical Therapist Assistant

Preferred:

  • A combination of up to two years of education, training and clinical experience in an outpatient setting is preferred.


License/Certification

Minimum Required:

  • Licensed or license-eligible by NY state as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
  • CPR certification within the first three months of employment.
Ensures that physical therapy services are administered and completed in a timely, accurate, and reliable manner. Provides physical therapy treatments for hospital-based inpatient and/or outpatient services or outpatient clinic services, as well as associated treatment records, progress notes, and billing information. Maintains specific service delivery standards which address commitment to service, customer satisfaction, ongoing evaluation of customer expectations, integration with quality process, communication and interaction standards, turn-around time and information processing standards, corporate compliance requirements, and physical amenities/environment of care. Cleans treatment tables and rooms after patient use, participates in staff meetings, in-services and other educational activities, and most importantly, engages in consultation with the Physical Therapist as to any changes in the patient’s condition or response to treatment which may warrant re-evaluation or alteration of the established treatment plan or goals.
