The Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to women during labor, delivery, recovery, and the immediate postpartum period. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond effectively in high-acuity and emergency situations.
This PRN position requires availability for 2–3 shifts per month to support high-volume periods. Additional full-time hours may be available during peak census weeks.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive assessments of maternal and fetal status
Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
Monitor labor progression and respond to changes in patient condition
Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed
Assist physicians and midwives with vaginal and cesarean deliveries
Provide care to newborns immediately following delivery
Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, recovery, and newborn care
Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare team members to ensure optimal outcomes
Adhere to infection control, patient safety, and compliance standards
Required Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
Successful completion of competency examination
Completion of core mandatory annual training
