Unit Profile: OR Tech – CVOR
Facility: Bassett Medical Center
CST CERTIFICATION REQUIRED & CARDIO VASCULAR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Shift: 7.00 am to 7.00 pm
OR Overview
OR Suites: 12
Average Daily Case Volume: 25–30 cases/day
Primary Case Types: General Surgery, Orthopedics
CVOR Focus: Cardiac, Thoracic, Vascular (including hybrid cases)
Additional Service Lines: Plastics, Neuro, ENT, GYN, Urology, GI, Pain Management, Podiatry
Call Expectations
Average Call Frequency: 4–5 shifts/month
Must be flexible—variety of cases may arise during call
Equipment & Technology
Extensive inventory across multiple specialties
Vendors present across many service lines
Must be comfortable with a wide range of OR/CVOR equipment and devices
OR Tech Role Expectations
Scrub and assist in CVOR procedures (cardiac, thoracic, vascular)
Support multiple service lines as needed
Maintain strong sterile technique and foundational OR skills
Not expected to assist in other departments unless prior experience exists
