- Scanners covered by traveler: 1
- Setting: Inpatient and outpatient
- Average scans per shift: 7 to 11
- PACS/RIS: Change Healthcare Radiology Solutions (McKesson) / Epic RIS
Exam Types & Skill Expectations
- Most Common Studies: Neuro, MSK, Abdomen, Breast, MRA/MRV, General MRI
- Advanced Studies Required: Yes (Cardiac MRI not performed by traveler)
- Contrast Administration: Required
- IV Starts: Not required
- Pediatric Imaging: Required
Workflow & Autonomy
- Radiologist coverage: On-site and remote reading
- Patient screening: MRI Technologist responsible
- Patient transport: Handled by hospital transport team
Schedule & Coverage
- Call:
- 6:00 am to 3:00 pm (Saturday/Sunday)
- 4 to 5 weekends during a 13-week assignment
- Holidays: Required if it falls during call week
Support Staff
- Sedation cases: Supported by MRI Tech and Nurse
- Cross-coverage: No CT or X-ray coverage if volume is low
Certifications & Experience Requirements
- Required: ARRT (MR) and BLS
- ARRT (R) only: Not accepted; must hold MRI certification
- New York state license: Not required
