Purpose of Position:
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist is responsible for providing quality care in a Cath Lab environment and ensuring a positive interpersonal experience for the patient. Performs interventional procedures by applying ionizing radiation to patients in a manner consistent with prescribed radiation protection safety standards under the direction of physicians.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Education/Experience/Training:
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist II
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Must meet at least one of the following qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher in Cardiovascular Technology
- Associate's degree or higher and a minimum of 3 years recent experience as a Cardiovascular Tech in a Cardiac Cath Lab
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Course
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) Certification
Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist EP
- Five years of recent experience in Cardiovascular EP
- Any two of the following certifications: Cardiac Interventional (CI), Vascular Interventional (VI), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Course
Special Procedures Tech 1
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- High school graduate or GED.
- Minimum of two years post-technical school radiology experience or six months recent experience as a Special Procedures Technologist.
- Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
- Registered by the ARRT.
- Licensed by the State of Massachusetts as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Successful passage of Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Exam or course within twelve months.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Intra-aortic Balloon Pump (IABP) Course
Special Procedures Tech 2
- All qualifications of Tech I
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist certification (RCIS) or Cardiac Interventional certification (CI) or Vascular Interventional certification (VI) or three years recent experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology
Special Procedures Tech 3
- All qualifications of Tech I
- Five years recent experience in Cardiovascular EP or any two of the following: Cardiac Interventional (CI), Vascular Interventional (VI), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Completion of EP training program.
