Description
Responsibilities:
- Assist ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals in conducting eye exams and procedures.
- Perform diagnostic tests, including visual field tests and refraction tests.
- Take patient medical histories and maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure that all necessary equipment is sterilized and in working order.
- Educate patients on eye care and post-procedure instructions.
- Administer eye drops or other medications as directed by the ophthalmologist.
Qualifications:
- Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients and other health care providers.
- Ability to operate ophthalmic equipment and instruments effectively.
- Detail-oriented with the capability to follow detailed instructions and procedures accurately.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
Experience:
- Previous experience in an ophthalmic setting preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is beneficial.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods.
- Capable of lifting and moving equipment as needed.
Adaptability and willingness to travel to different healthcare facilities as required.
